Don't Know What to Do with your Decorative Stitch's Class - January - Student's Projects - Calico Country, Carbondale, IL

I had the privilege to teach 4 workshops this January at the Calico Country Sew and Vac. 2 classes were in West Frankfort, IL and 2 where in Carbondale, IL. I was so impressed with the students. The 9 images shown here are an example of the quality of the work the students did. I feel the classes were very successful and everyone had a wonderful time.

Don't know what to do with the "DECORATIVE STITCHES". Well I'll show you!

Starting in 2009 I will be teaching my Machine Embroidery Thread Painting technique. I have had 10 years of experience perfecting this process. Now I am ready to spread the knowledge. Here are some examples of some of my thread painting. This top art quilt is done on a Baby Lock-Espire. The two lower art quilts are done on a Phaff 2140. Although any sewing machine with "Decorative Stitches" will work. My theory is you have all these great stitches why not use them. I will show you how. Some are very easy, some are more involved. I will get you started with the basics.

"Walking With Jim" A Celebration of Jim Piper

"Walking With Jim" is a tribute to the life of my good friend Jim Piper. Jim died on September 15th from a very long and courageous battle with cancer. He was a true inspiration to everyone who new him. This piece is about all the different paths that Jim walked in life. Jim as a person, a husband, a father, a grandfather, with his family, with his friends, service to his country, service to his community, as a sick man and finally his path as he walks off into the light. He will truly be missed.
